Two days ago my manager sent me an article called “Getting lost in translation in Brazil” from BBC News. I’m posting below what I answered to him as I though it’d be nice to make it public:
That’s a very interesting article, thanks for sharing. I agree with most of the points, although Brazil doesn’t have as many immigrants as Australia (or other countries) so to deal with different languages was something quite rare.
But I believe that once you are where you weren’t born, you should be respectful. For the language, for the culture, for the people, for everything.
Australians have been very nice to me since the day I moved here, in all aspects. So I try to do my part too. Living in other country has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Sometimes it’s hard, but it’s definitely rewarding.
